Markham Skating Club board is pleased to
announce that the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) has approved (Mar 2004) a grant to the
Markham Skating Club. The OTF is responsible for managing public funds by distributing
these funds in the form of grants to charities and not-for-profit organizations
for initiatives that benefit the communities these organizations serve. Our
grant $33,700 over 18 months will be used to hire part time administrative
support staff, provide support for Junior coaches, funding and assistance to our
professional coaching staff for continued coaching certification,
purchase office equipment as well as develop a comprehensive outreach strategy
to appeal to a broader cultural base and increase membership. We
would like to acknowledge the past (2003/2004) Markham Skating Club Board
members for their efforts, in particular Cathy Wayne for initiating the process
which has resulted in the successful award of this grant which will benefit both
the Skating Club and the Markham community.
